Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for the Public Service and Digitising Government: What public engagement surveys, if any, have been completed regarding the use of artificial intelligence in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, since 27 November 2023?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: I am advised that, within the timeframe requested, the Public Service Commission funded the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) survey that included public perceptions of AI use by government. In 2025, the Government Digital Delivery Agency commissioned user experience research relating to the development of the Govt.nz App. The survey did not ask any specific questions about the use of AI; however, the use of AI was touched on in the qualitative interview component of this research.
