34169 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Revenue: How, if at all, is AI profiling and/or facial recognition used in the Minister's departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any?

Hon Simon Watts: Officials advise that Inland Revenue does not use facial recognition or AI profiling. Inland Revenue’s use of AI focuses on supporting decision-making in the management of tax/social policy compliance risk, intervention design and on increasing staff productivity.
