Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Trade and Investment: What procurement process, if any, was used for purchasing artificial intelligence tools, if any, currently being used within the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any?

Hon Todd McClay: New Zealand Trade and Enterprise uses Microsoft Copilot as its enterprise artificial intelligence tool. NZTE accesses Copilot through the Department of Internal Affairs' all-of-government Microsoft Cloud Software and Services Agreement and did not undertake a separate procurement process. As part of its shared services agreement with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Invest New Zealand uses Microsoft Copilot as its enterprise intelligence tool. Please refer to NZTE’s response.
