34070 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: How, if at all, is AI profiling and/or facial recognition used in the Minister's departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade does not use AI profiling. The Ministry is currently trialling internally the use of facial recognition with staff for their laptop user authentication purposes. Antarctica New Zealand and the Asia New Zealand Foundation do not use AI profiling and/or facial recognition.
