34005 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Agriculture: What automated approvals, if any, are currently operating within the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any?

Hon Todd McClay: The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) does not currently use artificial intelligence to make automated approvals or operational decisions that are actioned without human oversight. MPI’s Artificial Intelligence Policy requires AI use to be subject to appropriate governance, approval, registration, risk management, and human oversight.
