Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that people in prison with severe and enduring mental health needs are referred to Forensic Mental Health Services, which are provided by Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand. Forensic Mental Health Services provide support to people in prisons, and people who have been transferred from prison into secure inpatient mental health facilities. I am further advised that as the Department of Corrections does not manage forensic in-patients in prison, your question has been interpreted to refer to prisoners receiving forensic mental health services while in Mount Eden Corrections Facility. I am further advised that Corrections receives information relating to prisoners who receive forensic mental health services from Te Whatu Ora: Health New Zealand on the first day of each week. I am further advised that the information Corrections holds which is closest to the date you have specified is from 23 June 2025. I am further advised that as at 23 June 2025, there were 115 prisoners receiving forensic health services held at Mt Eden Corrections Facility. Of these, 100 people were double-bunked and 15 were in a single cell.
