33719 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for Rail: What technical due diligence, if any, on the condition of existing port assets and on ship-to-shore interface geometry was completed before the March 2025 decision to pursue a maximum-reuse, minimum-viable infrastructure programme?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: Seriously technical due diligence was completed prior to March 2025 and through to completing the cost estimates in June. This is the same robust analysis that enables both ports to be operating right now.
