33719 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Climate Change: What advice, information, briefings or memorandums, by date and title, if any, has the Minister received since 27 November 2023 about potentially dismantling the Climate Change Commission or reducing roles, functions, tasks, delegations, responsibilities of the Climate Change Commission?
Hon Simon Watts: As Minister of Climate Change, I have received two briefings about work to find efficiencies within the Climate Change Response Act:
05/02/2025 - BRF-5763 - Briefing: Further advice on scope and process for a 2025 Climate Change Response Amendment Bill
05/03/2025 - BRF-5881 - Briefing: Scope and process for efficiency improvements to the Climate Change Response Act.
These briefings were discussed at meetings with officials from the Ministry for the Environment on 10 February 2025 and 10 March 2025.
The scope of the work includes assessing some tasks and responsibilities of the Climate Change Commission for efficiency and officials have been working with the Commission to ensure these are delivering value. There is no work on dismantling the Commission.
