33670 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: What evidence, if any, did she see about the impact of study support centres on student achievement prior to cutting their funding?
Hon Erica Stanford: The Ministry of Education identified that the distribution of Study Support Centre funding was uneven, with some schools running similar programmes without access to this.
In line with the Government’s priorities for education, I am relentlessly focused on ensuring our investments are evidence-based and directly impact progress and achievement in the classroom. This funding is being re-invested in professional development and curriculum resources that support classroom teaching and align with our achievement priority, including maths and pāngarau resources, structured literacy resources and Rangaranga Reo ā-Tā kits. I am confident that the reprioritisation of this funding will yield real benefits for teachers and learners across the country.
