33556 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: When was the state house at 78 Omata Road, Marfell, New Plymouth built and what characteristics of this property made it suitable for Kāinga Ora's state house sales programme?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that this home and its semi-detached neighbour were built in 1952. One unit (other side of party wall) is owned by a private owner. The redevelopment potential of the site is low and further constrained due to the shared tenure. Kāinga Ora is trying to move away from half ownership of semi-detached properties when and where it can because it can complicate delivery of planned maintenance like roof replacements.
