33543 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Associate Minister of Transport: What oversight mechanisms are now in place to ensure the Civil Aviation Authority’s recruitment processes are robust enough to prevent the hiring of individuals with extremist or white supremacist affiliations?

Hon James Meager: I am advised by CAA that in 2023, an independent review of its recruitment processes was commissioned, identifying areas that fell short of its expectations. Immediate steps were taken to address this including: • forming a dedicated recruitment team led by an experienced recruitment manager; and • strengthening the Recruitment and Selection Policy. The recruitment team reports to People Partnering Managers and works closely with the Human Resources Advisors. CAA now also has a dedicated Principal Recruitment Advisor, focused on the quality and continuous improvement of recruitment processes.
