33496 (2025). Hon Priyanca Radhakrishnan to the Minister for National Security and Intelligence: Did the Terrorist Designation Working Group recommend the renewal of the designation of the American Proud Boys as a terrorist group, if so, on what date?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In my capacity as the Minister for National Security and Intelligence, I am not responsible for the designation of terrorists under The Terrorism Suppression Act 2002 (the Act). In my capacity as the Prime Minister, I am advised from officials in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet that the Terrorist Designation Working Group recommended to the National Security Board on 21 May 2025 the renewal of the designation of the American Proud Boys under the Act.
