Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that initial analysis indicates that private sector innovation could enable: • More modern and easier to use payment technologies for road users • Better information for road users on journey times, road conditions and toll rates • More efficient and lower cost toll collection • More efficient operation and maintenance of the road itself. Potential innovations, and their benefits, will be tested with the market through the market sounding process.
