33462 (2025). Helen White to the Minister for the Community and Voluntary Sector: Why was measuring whether grant decisions are transparent and consistent with regard to meeting eligibility requirements removed as a performance measure in the performance measures for the Community Development and Funding Schemes MCA?
Hon Louise Upston: I am advised that in November 2024, the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) completed a review of its entire suite of non-financial performance measures. This review better aligned its suite of measures with best practice, and the expectations of the Government and Auditor-General. Most changes resulting from the review are applicable for the 2025/26 financial year.
This measure was removed as it was no longer fit for purpose. Instead, a new more relevant measure was added - Number of Community Organisations Grant Scheme applications that provide social services to communities are funded.
The Department will continue to review its performance measures annually, targeting any that are no longer fit for purpose or may need improvement as part of a continuous improvement process.
