33394 (2025). Ingrid Leary to the Minister of Housing: Are Kainga Ora leases being unrenewed for tenants, with intellectual disabilities, in Supported Housing across New Zealand, if at all?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that it is working closely with supported housing providers across New Zealand to renew leases for community housing group homes to help support people with a range of needs including intellectual disabilities. In some circumstances Kāinga Ora may lease a property from a private owner, which it in turns leases to a service provider. There has been one recent situation where Kāinga Ora has decided not to renew a lease on a property held with a private owner. In such circumstances, Kāinga Ora will work with any private owner and eligible service provider impacted by that change.
