33152 (2026). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: When will the one-year transition period for mandatory corded blind safety regulations start; and if it does not start from the date of the Government's announcement on 30 June 2026, why not?

Cameron Brewer: Cabinet agreed that, subject to consultation on an exposure draft of the regulations, the regulations will commence on a specified date one year after notification in the Gazette. The transition period does not begin from the date of the Government's announcement because suppliers of corded window coverings will need time to understand the regulations once they are finalised and published, assess their impact on products and business practices, and take any necessary steps to comply with them.
