33127 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Health: How many deputy chief executive or equivalent roles, if any, are in the Minister's departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, and what is the total number of employees in these departments, agencies, crown entities or any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that Health New Zealand presently has 14 deputy chief executive-equivalent roles, and that the Ministry has announced it is reducing its number of second-tier leadership positions to six. I am further advised that, as at 31 December 2024, Health New Zealand had a total headcount of 88,089 employees, and that, as at 7 July 2025, the Ministry had a headcount of 757 employees.
