33090 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Education: How many deputy chief executive or equivalent roles, if any, are in the Minister's departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, and what is the total number of employees in these departments, agencies, crown entities or any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for?
Hon Erica Stanford: As at 30 June 2025, the Ministry of Education had nine roles identified as deputy chief executive or equivalent roles, and a total full time equivalent (FTE) of 3,834.9 (headcount of 4,084).
The New Zealand Qualifications Authority had five deputy chief executive roles and a total FTE of 460.38.
Education New Zealand had three group general manger roles which are the equivalent of a deputy chief executive and a total FTE of 84.
The Education Review Office (ERO) had five deputy chief executive roles and a total establishment of 245 staff. In addition, ERO’s Corporate Services provides service to the Independent Children’s Monitor who employ 60 staff.
