33089 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Defence: How many deputy chief executive or equivalent roles, if any, are in the Minister's departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, and what is the total number of employees in these departments, agencies, crown entities or any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for?

Hon Judith Collins: As at 30 June 2025, the Ministry of Defence currently employees a total of 184 staff. The Ministry of Defence does not currently employ any Deputy Chief Executives but has five employees currently engaged in a Deputy Secretary (Tier 2) or equivalent role. For the New Zealand Defence Force there is one deputy chief executive, the Vice Chief of Defence Force.
