33038 (2026). Steve Abel to the Minister for Economic Growth: Did the Minister receive any advice from MCERT or the EPA in relation to Golden Bay Cement and costs imposed by the Emissions Trading Scheme, if so, what was the substance of the advice?

Hon Nicola Willis: I received advice from officials on Golden Bay Cement’s concerns that industrial allocation did not sufficiently offset its ETS costs and renders its business uneconomical. The government subsequently commissioned an independent open-book examination that verified these concerns and the companies ETS cost between 2030 and 2050.
