32989 (2025). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: What is the Minister's response to allegations that Israel's plan for Gaza, reported by Al Jazeera on May 7, 2025, constitutes ethnic cleansing?
Rt Hon Winston Peters: The situation in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel remains deeply concerning. New Zealand has been consistent in its messaging that this crisis must end. New Zealand has repeatedly emphasised that all parties must abide by their international legal obligations. The Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and senior officials have reiterated this in the United Nations, in joint statements with counterparts, and in direct engagement with Israel and the Palestinian Authority. New Zealand's longstanding position is that allegations of possible crimes against humanity should be investigated by the appropriate international bodies, such as the International Criminal Court.
