32951 (2025). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: What are the key dates for initiatives the Firearms Safety Authority are expected to be achieved in 2025/26, if any?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that key dates for Firearms Safety Authority initiatives in 2025/26 will be confirmed at a later date. However, the key focus for the Registry build in 2025/26 financial year is maintaining the recording of ammunition sales for dealers and ammunition sellers, to meet regulation 42(3) of the Arms Regulations 1992. In addition, the Authority will begin developing a digital recording process for recording dealers’ stockholdings and will continue to support licence holders to register their firearms. These activities will coincide with the peak licensing demand period and the implementation of ammunition sales recording requirements.
