32940 (2025). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: Does New Zealand Police operate with a maximum intake of 100 recruits across both Porirua and Auckland training facilities combined, or is the maximum 100 recruits at each site?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that the Royal New Zealand Police College (RNZPC) is operating with a combined intake of 100 recruits across the Porirua and Auckland training campuses for Wings 389 (Porirua) and 390 (Auckland). The Auckland campus is currently running on a pilot basis to assess its suitability of the site for future training, a full review will be conducted at the conclusion of Wing 390. As this stage, no analysis has been completed to determine how many wings could be accommodated at the Auckland campus. At the RNZPC in Porirua, the maximum wing size was increased from 80 to 100 recruits in early 2025. The campus can accommodate up to 400 recruits across four wings. As of 4 July 2025, 371 recruits are training at the Porirua facility. This is also my response to Written Parliamentary Questions 32942, 32943 and 32944 (2025).
