32933 (2025). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: What elements of training will police recruits need to travel to Porirua for 5 weeks to complete?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Police recruits travelling from Auckland to Porirua are scheduled to complete the following training components: • Driving and Road Policing • Firearms • Forensics - Ink Prints and Live Scan • Sudden Death Exemplars • Mechanical Restraints • Escape and Evade • Skills Enhancement Week (SEW) - SEW is a consolidation week where recruits utilise their amassed knowledge from the programme in multiple practical scenarios - It requires them to integrate legislative and policy understanding with practical skills and the TENR framework to operationalise their learning. I am further advised that recruits will also complete their swimming assessment and have their uniform fittings carried out during this time.
