32871 (2025). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Conservation: Did the Minister consider the more than a decade of work by New Zealanders involved in implementing protections in the Hauraki Gulf when deciding to allow ring-net fishing in high protection areas of the Hauraki Gulf, and if not why not?

Hon Tama Potaka: I acknowledge the years of mahi, from a broad range of people, that has gone into developing the Hauraki Gulf / Tīkapa Moana Marine Protection Bill. In making my decision regarding ring net fishing in high protection areas, I considered the balance of the needs of communities, the environment and the economy.
