32672 (2025). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Associate Minister of Education: Has the Minister directed the Ministry to keep an official record of parental contribution to ECE costs, via ECE fees; if not, why not?

Hon David Seymour: No. The Ministry of Education does not collect data on the fees that parents/caregivers pay. Successive governments have chosen not to require collection of Early Childhood Education fees comprising an official record. This decision reflects the consideration of the balance between administrative cost and the benefits of collecting this information.
