32341 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: Further to his reply to Question 29612 (2025), how many additional social houses do his officials estimate are needed in each of the locations listed over the next three financial years?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) does not have absolute estimates for housing need by location. The new Flexible Fund that I recently announced is a key part of a new housing investment approach that will better target new and existing government investment to focus on particular needs in particular regions and be more effective at delivering the right types of houses. It will give us a much more granular understanding of the types of housing required – and who is best placed to deliver them. HUD is currently undertaking work to understand this need in place.
