Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Who is correct regarding the number of reports received by the Government’s road cone hotline between 3 June and 17 June 2025 - NZTA Chief Executive Brett Gliddon, who told the Transport and Infrastructure Committee on 17 June that 88 genuine inquiries had been received, or WorkSafe, which reportedly stated that 196 valid reports were received in the same period?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that both figures were correct at the time they were cited. WorkSafe had received 196 valid reports, of which 88 related to the state highway network and were referred to the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi. The remaining 108 fall to the relevant Road Controlling Authorities to receive and respond to as they deem appropriate.
