32203 (2025). Hon Rachel Brooking to the Minister responsible for RMA Reform: Does he agree with Shane Jones that there is no compelling case for regional government to continue to exist after the RMA changes have been implemented?

Hon Chris Bishop: Undersecretary Simon Court and I are working our way through possible changes to regional councils in the context of resource management reform. The reforms raise issues about who does what in the system, and as a Government we are clearly keen on less bureaucracy.
