32190 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: Further to WPQ 30886, what was the outcome for the 15 per cent of people that weren't in Social Housing, Transitional Housing, or receiving an Accommodation Supplement for a private rental?

Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) that it can only identify outcomes from information that has been recorded from interactions with clients, or information which is shared by other agencies. For example, the Ministry can see when someone who has received the Emergency Housing Grant later accesses Accommodation Supplement, has attained a social housing tenancy, or has been placed with a transitional housing provider. Tracking outcomes over time is a complex task due to the scale of information involved, the wide range of assistance people may receive through the Ministry, and the need to respect individuals' reasonable right to privacy. The Ministry is unlikely to ever know all outcomes because people are not required to let the Ministry know where they live once they stop receiving assistance.
