32186 (2026). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Education: Which schools participated in the SMART tool trial, and how were they selected?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that 85 schools and kura participated in the Student Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting Tool (SMART) 2025 trial. The Ministry of Education promoted the trial via its regular channels (including School Bulletin and Curriculum Advisor outreach) for schools and kura to express interest. Due to privacy and the need to consult with schools and kura prior to releasing their details, the names of schools and kura cannot be provided in the timeframe available to respond to written parliamentary questions.
