32179 (2025). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: How is safety of both patients and the wider community, being ensured at Hillmorton Hospital?

Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that specialist mental health services use standardised and individual clinical assessment processes to understand and evaluate a person's mental state and any risks that may be present. Careful clinical treatment planning and risk management strategies then manage these risks. Following any serious incident Health New Zealand and the Ministry of Health can review process to ensure procedures have been followed and can make recommendations if needed.
