31996 (2026). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister of Conservation: What specific engagement, if any, has occurred with iwi and hapū whose rohe include public conservation land affected by the Conservation Amendment Bill?

Hon Tama Potaka: Engagement with Iwi, including Post-Settlement Governance Entities, has been ongoing since November 2024 to discuss how to uphold Treaty settlement commitments in the context of these reforms. Since January 2025, officials have met with at least 44 groups and held approximately 97 hui. The Department has also written to all PSGEs, groups in Treaty settlement negotiations, ngā hapū o Ngāti Porou and customary marine title holders. Department officials have remained available to meet with any group that wishes to do so.
