31889 (2025). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Associate Minister of Education: How many Early Childhood Education Centres are currently open in all regions of New Zealand, excluding the cities of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, broken down by amount of centres per region?

Hon David Seymour: I refer the Member to the attached table showing the number of Early Childhood Education (ECE) centres open in New Zealand as at 24 June 2025, broken down by region. Data quality is dependent on timely, accurate information being entered into the Ministry’s database. ECE centres include the following services: • Casual-Education and Care • Education and Care Services • Free Kindergarten • Homebased Network • Hospital based • Playcentre • Te Kōhanga Reo. This is also my response to written parliamentary question 31890, 31892 and 31893 (2025).
