31473 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: Does the minister intend to publish all anonymised data on the housing outcomes of individuals who have exited emergency housing since the start of 2024, if not, why not?

Hon Tama Potaka: Neither I nor the Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) plan to publish the housing outcomes of individuals. After leaving emergency housing households are under no obligation to tell the Ministry where they are moving to. We need to balance the requirement to monitor the effectiveness of our interventions with the need to respect individuals’ reasonable right to privacy. The Ministry has already provided an overview of where people go after emergency housing, including access to supports like Transitional Housing, Social Housing or receipt of Accommodation Supplement, in line with its information-sharing policy.
