31426 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What works are included in the SH29 Tauriko (wider scope) project in Phase Two of the July 2026 Major Transport Projects Pipeline, and how do they differ from the SH29 Tauriko (Ōmanawa Bridge) works in Phase One?

Hon Chris Bishop: The Phase Two SH29 Tauriko (wider scope) project includes route protection, consenting, strategic property acquisition, design activities, and technical investigations for the wider Tauriko West corridor improvements. The Phase One SH29 Tauriko (Ōmanawa Bridge) project is a separate construction project to replace the existing bridge, including associated road realignment and intersection improvements. It is being progressed ahead of the wider Tauriko project because the existing bridge is nearing the end of its service life.
