Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Customs: What consultations are the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, planning to open on the week beginning Monday 16 June 2025 with employees around any changes to employment roles, employment numbers and any other employment conditions, and what is the proposed net change in roles?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that for the week beginning 16 June 2025, the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) commenced one consultation process with employees around proposed changes to employment roles, employment numbers and employment conditions. This consultation process is in Customs’ Border Operations Group, and the proposed changes are: three roles are disestablished, 11 roles have minor changes, and three new roles are created. The consultation process is expected to close on 27 June 2025.
