Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister for the Public Service and Digitising Government: Did any Kāinga Ora board member or staff member seek any advice from the Public Service Commission prior to 1 July 2024 about a process and/ or compensation to extract the then Chief Executive of Kāinga Ora from his position and if so, what advice did the Commission provide?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: I am advised that the incoming Kāinga Ora Board Chair sought guidance from the Public Service Commission in connection with the potential departure of the Kāinga Ora Chief Executive. The Commission provided advice to the Chair that focused on ensuring the Board understood its obligations as an employer, including seeking independent legal advice, and to ensure compliance with guidance issued by the Commission and other relevant oversight agencies.
