31304 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Universities: How much, if anything, did the Minister ask for in any Budget 2025 budget bids that may deliver funding to universities, and how much, if anything, was given to any such bids in Budget 2025?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: All Vote Tertiary Education Budget 2025 initiatives considered by Cabinet received the requested funding. Specific funding for universities was not requested or appropriated in Budget 2025. However, several initiatives in the Vote Tertiary Education Budget package will deliver funding to universities and other tertiary education organisations. These initiatives and the total amount of funding provided for each are listed below: • Managing Tertiary Education and Training System Pressures – Targeted Cost Adjustments to Tertiary Education Tuition and Training Subsidies ($212.5 million over the forecast period) • Managing Tertiary Education and Training System Pressures – Targeted Cost Adjustments to Higher Education Tuition Subsidies ($64.4 million over the forecast period) • Tertiary Education and Training Enrolments – Increased Volume Funding ($111.4 million over the forecast period). The Tertiary Education Commission will allocate the appropriated funding to universities through its investment processes.
