31262 (2025). Shanan Halbert to the Minister for Universities: Further to the Minister’s response to Written Parliamentary Question 22681, what extra funding was allocated to universities in Budget 2025 to accommodate the growth in enrolments?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: Budget 2025 provides $100 million in additional funding (excluding additional funding to support Youth Guarantee) to support growing the domestic pipeline of students. This funding will enable TEC to fund 99% of the forecast enrolments in tertiary education and training across 2025 and 2026 (I refer the member to my answer to WPQ 30740 (2025)). Funding to the tertiary sector is allocated by fund type (generally related to a specific level of provision e.g. degrees and above) not based on the type of tertiary education organisation (TEO) (e.g. universities).
