31227 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What is the total count of Health New Zealand - Tairāwhiti Senior Medical Officers as of 1 June 2025?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that Health New Zealand has updated its systems to enable more regular and reliable reporting. As of 7 July 2025, the total number of Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) at Health New Zealand - Gisborne is 56.94 FTE. As the Member will be aware, this is higher than the number recorded at the end of March this year, following a sharp decline from 57.2 FTE in December 2022 to 49.1 FTE in December 2023.
