31219 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: How many FTE fixed term Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) have accepted offers though not yet started since August 2024 in Tairāwhiti district?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that since August 2024, a total of 2.75 FTE fixed-term Senior Medical Officers in the Gisborne district had accepted offers but had not yet commenced employment as at 17 June 2025. Our Government remains focused on strengthening the frontline and supporting our regional hospitals to attract and retain the staff they need.
