31218 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: How many job candidates for FTE permanent Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) have been provided offers though not yet accepted the offer since August 2024 in Tairāwhiti district?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that since August 2024, a total of 7.6 FTE permanent Senior Medical Officer job candidates in the Gisborne district had been provided offers that have not yet been accepted as at 17 June 2025. Our Government remains focused on strengthening the frontline and supporting our regional hospitals to attract and retain the staff they need.
