31199 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister for Energy: Has the Minister sought any information on the effectiveness of Powerswitch as a tool for improving competition and transparency in the electricity market?

Hon Simon Watts: I am advised that the Electricity Authority sought feedback on comparison and switching in 2024 via its ‘Supporting consumers to compare and switch electricity plans’ consultation paper. Submissions on this paper provided feedback on the comparison and switching service more broadly, including from consumers and consumer advocates. One action the Authority took as a result was to initiate a competitive procurement process for the publicly funded comparison and switching service.
