31196 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister for Energy: What, if anything, is the Government's policy on ensuring access to simple, independent electricity comparison tools for consumers?

Hon Simon Watts: The Government supports good information being available to help consumers make efficient decisions about their power plans and energy use. One of the Electricity Authority's statutory functions is to promote to consumers the benefits of comparing and switching retailers. One of the main ways it does this is via funding the operation of comparison tools for retailer plans. The energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority is responsible for supporting consumers with independent information on ways to save money by using their energy more efficiently and flexibly. The Government is also progressing work on a Consumer Data Right for Electricity.
