31195 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister for Energy: Will the Government consider directly funding Consumer NZ to continue operating Powerswitch if the Electricity Authority withdraws support?

Hon Simon Watts: I am advised that the Authority is not withdrawing support. In response to a competitive procurement process, ConsumerNZ chose to submit a proposal that did not conform with minimum requirements intended to future-proof the service and secure long-term benefit for consumers by ensuring IP is held by the Authority. On this basis, the Authority was unable to consider ConsumerNZ’s proposal.
