31124 (2023). Hon Dr Megan Woods to the Minister of Climate Change: When he said "But but we critically, you know, if you think about the next 4 to 6 quarters, uh, we need to start getting a clear plan in terms of the decisions we need to make, particularly around renewable energy that's going to allow us to decarbonise, because that's the, the most effective and sustainable way that New Zealand can, uh, get off fossil fuels," what is the volume of emissions reductions that will be achieved by increasing the amount of renewable energy generation, if any?
Hon Simon Watts: The Government is committed to investment in clean renewable energy and doubling the supply of affordable, clean energy by 2050. The second Emissions Reduction Plan (ERP2) is under development and is due by 31 December 2024. The Government will quantify the impact of its climate policy as part of developing ERP2.
