31123 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Internal Affairs: How much in total, if any, was spent on renumeration of Crown appointees in the Minister's departments, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, for the 2023-24 financial year?
Hon Brooke van Velden: Department of Internal Affairs:
I am advised that remuneration paid to Crown appointees was $192,086.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand:
I am advised that remuneration paid to Crown appointees of Fire and Emergency New Zealand during the 2023/24 financial year totalled $197,532.75. This amount relates to remuneration paid to Fire and Emergency New Zealand Board members.
The Classification Office:
I am advised that the remuneration for the Chief and Deputy Chief Censor of the Classification Office is set by the Remuneration Authority. Under s79 of the Films, Videos and Publications Classification Act 1993, these two positions form the board of the Classification Office the purposes of the Crown Entities Act 2024.
As such the Classification Office pays no fees under CO (25) 2: Cabinet Fees Framework.
Remuneration spent for 2023/24 for these Key Management positions was $577K, as disclosed in the Classification Office Annual Report 2023/24.

I am advised by Lotto New Zealand that $238,749 was spent on Board member remuneration.
