31112 (2023). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: Which member/s, if any, of the Ministerial Advisory Group to review primary school English, maths and statistics curricula will bring specialised secondary education experience to ensure a seamless transition to secondary school?
Hon Erica Stanford: The Ministerial Advisory Group has been established to review the English and mathematics and statistics learning areas in the refreshed curriculum. The Group will build on the work that has already been done, which includes learning support and transitions.
The terms of reference for the Ministerial Advisory Group are publicly available on the Ministry of Education’s website at: http://curriculumrefresh.education.govt.nz/ministerial-advisory-group. As we progress, I may review member composition to ensure the required expertise is represented in the Group at the time it is needed.
Collectively, the Group benefit from having skills and knowledge of curriculum design, primary and intermediate schooling, and specialist literacy and mathematics knowledge at all year levels.
This is also my response to written parliamentary questions 31113 (2023) and 31115 (2023).
