31032 (2023). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister for Racing: Does the Minister commit to “… ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare” as found in the National-NZ First Coalition Agreement, and will he commit to banning greyhound racing in New Zealand?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: I am committed to the National-New Zealand First Coalition Agreement. Regarding the future of the greyhound racing in New Zealand, I am aware that the industry and animal welfare agencies need clarity concerning the future of the industry after a long period of uncertainty. To that end, I have sought advice from my officials and intend to discuss the matter with Cabinet in due course.
